Twenty-two things are listed below. Nine of them have a room and an hour still open.

A music school runs out of one thing before it runs out of anything else, and that thing is Tuesday at four. So the list on this page is the whole list, in the order we teach it, with the day, the length, the price for the term and whether there is actually room. Nothing on it is a category with a photograph. Every line is a real hour in a real room.

None of it is real. This page is a design mockup for a Kansas City web design service. The school, the teachers, the prices, the term dates and the telephone number were all invented for it, and nothing here can be booked.

    Thirty minutes is the only length offered, on purpose. Most students move to guitar after two or three terms and that is a fine outcome.

A thirty minute lesson is about eighteen minutes of this and about twelve minutes of talking about what to do at home during the week.

Daytime classes, Wednesdays

Group classes that run while most children are in school, which in practice means these are taken by homeschooling families. Four classes, one after another, so a family with three children can do the whole morning in one trip.

    The class where written music actually gets taught. Recorder is the instrument because it is cheap and because it makes reading unavoidable.

Six rooms, one corridor

Everything on this page happens behind one of these doors, which is the reason the list has an end. Two rooms take a piano, one takes the drum kit, and the other three take anything a student can carry in. When the corridor is full at four in the afternoon, the term is full at four in the afternoon.

Playing with other people

Three groups. All of them assume you already play a little, and all of them start with a conversation rather than an audition. Adults are welcome in two of the three and are the entire membership of one.

    Two bands, one at ten and one at half past eleven. We talk to you first about where a student is, and then put them in the band that will not be miserable for them.

One Saturday workshops

Single sessions, dated, open to people who take nothing else here. Pay on the day. If four people sign up we run it, and if three do we call the three and move it.

The part that is not online

How an hour actually gets assigned

There is no booking system on this page on purpose. A slot is a negotiation about two families' Tuesdays and it goes faster out loud.

  1. You call, and we ask three things

    The instrument, the student's age, and the two afternoons you could realistically be here every single week until December. The third one is the question that decides it.

  2. We read you what is free

    Out loud, from the same list on this page. If the honest answer is that nothing fits your two afternoons, we say that rather than offering you a slot you will miss.

  3. One trial lesson

    Thirty minutes, $30, paid that day, and taken off the term if you go ahead. Come in and sit in the room for it if the student is young.

  4. The hour is yours for fourteen weeks

    Same room, same time, same teacher. We do not rotate students through teachers and we do not move an hour once the term has started.

  5. Two make-ups, and then that is it

    Tell us before noon on the day and the lesson is banked. Beyond two in a term the lesson is gone, because the teacher was here.

  6. Re-enrolment runs before the term ends

    Current students keep their hour for ten days. On the eleventh day whatever is left goes back on the list above, which is usually the only time cello moves.

What we do not do

  • We do not test, evaluate, diagnose or screen a student for anything, and we are not qualified to.
  • We do not promise a grade, a chair, an audition result, a competition placing or a score of any kind, here or on the phone.
  • We do not advise families on school programmes, special education services, or anything a school district is or is not doing.
  • We do not sell, rent or repair instruments, and we take nothing from any shop we point you toward.
  • We do not teach on Sundays, and we close for the two weeks the public schools close in December.
